"People & Animals: United for Health" is an interactive, poster-sized health and science calendar for children, developed by the Massachusetts Society for Medical Research, Inc. Each month's colorful poster illustrates a health-related science theme, including dental health, heart disease, poison control, biodiversity and the environment, body organs and transplantation, nutrition, AIDS and feline leukemia, diabetes, and infectious diseases. Concepts are conveyed through hand-illustrated artwork, and hands-on coloring, writing and drawing activities and experiments. The calendar is accompanied by the "HEADS ON! for Healthy Living" teacher’s guide Massachusetts Society for Medical Research of critical and creative thinking activities, and training workshops of the same name are held for teachers throughout New England and other states.
